The painting career of the company president began during the summer following his freshman year in high school. In 1981, he was hired as an industrial painter's helper to work at an Anheuser-Busch plant in Houston, Texas. During the summer following his sophomore year of high school, he worked for a general contractor as a residential painter. Upon graduation from high school in 1984, he entered the USN where part-time painting continued. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, he returned to full-time painting and received on the job training from a commercial painter and a drywall expert both of whom had over 30 years of experience in the trades. For more than 30 years, Scott has participated in performing painting and decorating projects involving a variety of spaces and objects including apartments, condominiums, new homes, home remodels, commercial offices and warehouses, tractor trailers and containers, industrial structures, and yachts.
In 1990, the owner established a residential and commercial business named Exceptional Painting Company in Houston, Texas. Five years afterward, he traveled to Chicago to earn a B.A. in Christian Education. During undegraduate college studies, Mr. Massey continued his painting business in Chicago, Illinois. The company name was changed to S. R. Massey Applications in 1998.
The owner relocated to Jacksonville, Florida in 2001. Since that time, Mr. Massey has participated in the performance of new construction projects such as the Federal Courthouse Building in Jacksonville, the Jacksonville Suns Baseball Stadium, new homes in Ponte Vedra, and home remodels in the Mandarin, Southside, and Beaches areas of Jacksonville. The founder of Massey Applications, Inc. continues to gain knowledge and to develop skills through online research, craft manuals, a variety of trade organizations, and personal contracting experience. Massey Applications was incorporated in 2006.
